You may have seen the recent Nature ‘Comment’ by Whiteman et al in 25th July, which modelled a 50Gt decadal release from Arctic methane hydrates , and you may have seen the various strong statements in the UK and international press.

We have now sent the attached text to Nature, to be posted as a ‘comment’ under the archived Comment piece.

They did not want to post our whole response, but have posted a 300-word synopsis with a link to the full text.
